About this fiber: Finn sheep are known in their native country of Finland as Finnish Landrace. The breed is considered to be several hundred years old, descending from the Mouflon that live in the wild on Sardinia and Corsica. Finn sheep wool is noted for its lovely luster, as well as its range of natural colors. It is a fiber that takes to hand dying very well and I am able to achieve wonderful depths of colors and shades when using this type of fiber wool top.
Finnish (or Finn) wool has been described by many fiber artists as being similar to Blueface Leicester wool in appearance. With a nice medium length, it is highly praised by hand spinners for it's easy spinning. It also blends easily with natural or synthetic fibers to help create a nice variety of different yarn types. Felter's like using this type of wool for making animals and dolls and have described felting this type of fiber as an easy choice for beginners to choose.
This fiber falls comfortably into the medium range of wools. It has a micron of 28-30 and has an average length of 80mm.
